REVIEW: The Body Shop Apricot and Basil 100% Biodegradable Shower Gel

Posted: 06 Aug 2012 12:34 AM PDT

Yes yes yes, I hauled and TBS and now TBS reviews are the kind of posts that you will be literally bombarded with :P Today it is The Body Shop Apricot and Basil 100% Biodegradable Shower Gel from the Earth Lovers Collection...

True to it's name, it sure is a treasured collection for Earth Lovers because of it being 100% biodegradable. It is sulphates and paraben free and if you are still not happy then let me tell you that the bottle of the shower gel is made out of 100% recycled plastic... Now this sure should be a great way of celebrating The World Environment Day! Ha ha :)

The light green semi transparent bottle itself looks really pretty and feminine and the interesting combinations that TBS has come up with where core ingredients are concerned and simply so attractive! Apricot and Basil in a shower gel... Now who could have thought of that? It's pure genius :)

The shower gel lathers up really well and a small amount goes a long way without a doubt! And that's where the good things end...

One major issue that I have with the product is that it is very very drying and not a very comfortable product to use for people with dry skin... And do note that this review is during the Monsoons!!! Oily skin and normal skin would just love it! :) Another small con with the product is that the product itself is very "runny" and not at all like a shower "gel"!

Images of the Product:

Ooooohhss And Aaahhhsss!!!
1. It is 100% bio-degradable
2. It is sulphates and paraben free.
3. The bottle itself is very pretty :)
4. It has a subtle lingering fragrance, which is rather fresh and not at all sweet.
5. It is without a doubt very refreshing, I think its the "basil".
6. It is quite easy on the pocket especially when compared to other TBS products :P
7. Comes in a variety of combinations and hence it is really easy to choose on the basis of your preference :)

Ouches!!!
1. It dries up the skin and hence isn't very suitable for dry skin.
2. The texture of the product is quite runny and not at all like a gel!

Price:
It costs INR 390/-

Repurchase?
Unfortunately, no! I really prefer moisturising or at least non-drying shower gels.

Do I Recommend?
It is very drying for dry skin but that spells good news for Oily skinned and even noramal skinned beauties out there :)

Overall Rating:
7/10 -> Dry Skin
9/10 -> Normal/Oily skin

Rave: A'kin Hydro Essential Lavender Cellular Brightening Facial Mist

Posted: 05 Aug 2012 05:12 PM PDT

Sometimes good things happen to you when you least expect it. My amazing find happened when I was on holidays in Adelaide without a toner. I normally use the Avene Thermal Spring water (which I've raved about here before. Seriously you NEED to try it!). But since the bottle wouldn't be cleared through airport security, I lovingly left it at home. I thought that I could live without a toner. Thought. Actually I can't. After a day I changed my mind and headed out to Priceline to find a toner.

I really didn't know what I was looking for but came across this.

Remember how I said good things happen when you least expect it? This is one of those good things. I still love my Avene mist, but this has over taken it.

The mist is a gorgeous, refreshing mist that's perfect for after cleansing. It's much more than a toner. The Aloe, Vitamin B5 and Vitamin C in the mist helps to hydrate your skin and brighten it. It can be used on any skintone, and also used throughout the day to refreshen. I prefer mists over liquid toners, so this is perfect for me.

It also has a gorgeous smell. It's a floral, lavender smell, that makes me want it to be spring time.

I adore Akin products. They have quality products at great prices. They are also Australian owned and made, don't have nasty ingredients like parabens and sulfates, and don't test on animals. Now if only they made make up!!

Do you love Akin as much as I do? What's your favourite natural/cruelty free brand?
XO

Many people find ways to use food items to beautify their skin and hair through topical application. For example, eggs or mayonnaise may be used to add shine and create the lustrous locks you've been dreaming of, while avocado can add hydration and yogurt is said to strengthen your tresses (or at least make them super soft). And of course, you can use all kinds of oils (olive, coconut, etc.) to

notd: aka candy floss

| aka nail polish in candy floss* £5- online/selected boutiques |

i so very nearly got my nails painted with this colour at the aka launch party but at the last minute opted for a bright blue instead, so i was super excited to get my hands on this bad boy!

i remembered application of the blue polish being initially a bit streaky and to be perfectly honest i felt a bit indifferent about the product, aside from the amazing colour i wasn't expecting alot... but boy was i wrong! the colour needed only 2 coats and application wasn't streaky at all!

i'm beginning to think it may only be the other colour that has application problems? or perhaps it was a dud bottle? i guess i won't know unless i buy some more ;)

Rave: Shick Hydro Silk Razor + Be apart of my trial team

Posted: 05 Aug 2012 04:07 AM PDT

Sponsored Post

Everyone has beauty items they refuse to spend a lot of money on. It may be a lip gloss, body moisturiser or nail polish. For me it's anything to do with hair removal. It's one of the more unglamorous parts of my beauty routine and sometimes I go for the inexpensive route.

But this is one of my beauty blunders too.  Did you know that by using a cheap razor (in price and quality), it won't glide on the skin and you'll end up cutting yourself with the blade?

In enters the much better quality shaver. Yes, it might cost a few dollars more, but the pay off is worth it. I adore the Schick Hydro Silk razor.  It has 5 (YES 5) blades to give you the smoothest and softest legs out there. It contains 2 moisturising strips, one at the top of the razor and one at the bottom, that helps it slide over your skin to stop from cutting yourself. It also helps to keep your skin feeling soft and hydrated. No more dry or irritated skin. The moisture strips are activated by water and contain shea butter and marine extracts to nourish and hydrate your skin. The great thing with the moisture strips is that they are hypoallergenic for even the most sensitive skin.

I love the 5 blades because I get the closest shave and find that my legs felt softer for longer. With a cheaper blade there is normally only 2 blades and they get clogged up easily. But with 5 blades you don't have to worry about that. One great thing about the blades is that they "move" independently from each other so its perfect for those tricky places like knees, ankles and underarms.

The handle is really amazing. It has a soft rubber handle that's easy to manoeuvre. I'm used to harder handles, and have always found them frustrating. It's harder to glide over tricky places like underarms, so I love how easy this razor is. The razor is compact which is fantastic, as previous razors I've tried in the past were big and bulky and were impossible when it came to underarms and more intimate areas.

It comes with this gorgeous little shower hanger to keep it (and your feet) safe from the razor being knocked off a shelf.

Even though it has its built in protection from the moisture strips, remember to still use a shaving gel, moisturising soap or body gel. This just protects and moisturises your skin to its full potential, and helps to limit any irritation. Even though it's an amazing razor, make sure you don't share it with anyone to prevent spreading bacteria from one user to the other. Get them their own! The kit (which contains the razor, 2 blades and the shower hanger) will cost you $15.25 and the refill packs are $19.25. It's available in Australia from August at supermarkets, Priceline and pharmacies.

And here's the fun part...

I have 5 Shick Hydro Silk Razors to road test as apart of a trial team!

All you have to do is answer this question to be eligible*...

Where's the strangest place that you've ever shaved? (Either location or body part)?

Comment below and please include your email address in your answer. If you're apart of the lucky 5, I'll send out an email to you to get your details so you'll be able to try it out yourself. You've got until midnight EST on the 9th August to be eligible so get commenting now!

*Sadly, this is only an Australian trial team -SORRY!!

A Kiss on a Carousel

Here I used Essie Carousel Coral and stamped the lipstick print from BM 303 with Essie Good as Gold.

Here are some pic of Carousel Coral on it's own. Just 2 coats. I've had this coral forever and really love it. It's quite similar to Tart Deco.
